JOB DUTIES:
- Plan and oversee all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and service for lunch, dinner, and special events, with a strong emphasis on Caribbean and Chinese culinary traditions.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Create, refine, and execute menus that showcase Patois’s Asian-Caribbean fusion concept, blending traditional Caribbean and Chinese flavours with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
- Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant’s high standards for quality, consistency, portioning, and presentation.
- Manage food inventory, control costs, and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure efficient and cost-effective kitchen operations.
- Enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring all food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards meet or exceed public health requirements.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in both Caribbean and Chinese cooking techniques, fostering professional development and consistency across the team.
- Collaborate with management on menu innovation, strategic kitchen planning, and execution of special events or seasonal promotions.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary to avoid service disruptions.
- Stay current with culinary trends and incorporate relevant techniques and ingredients to keep offerings fresh, innovative, and aligned with Patois’s identity
Prerequisites;
Education: Secondary School or equivalent experience
Experience & Skills: 2 year to less than 3 years of experience
Language: English
Hourly Rate: $36.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent
