Job Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of food service staff in a busy, upscale Italian restaurant, ensuring every guest enjoys a warm and authentic Italian dining experience.
- Oversee the flow of service from kitchen to table, with close attention to the pacing of multi-course Italian meals, proper serving of antipasti, primi, secondi, contorni, and dolci.
- Train service staff on traditional Italian menu items, ingredients, pronunciation, and cultural significance, as well as appropriate wine pairings with Italian regional dishes.
- Monitor food presentation, portion sizes, and serving temperatures to ensure dishes reflect the quality, authenticity, and visual appeal associated with Italian culinary traditions.
- Ensure tables are properly set following Italian dining etiquette, including glassware, cutlery placement, and service style for wine, olive oil, and bread.
- Resolve guest concerns with professionalism and warmth, embodying the spirit of “ospitalità italiana”—making every guest feel like family.
- Schedule staff effectively to accommodate peak periods such as weekend dinners, holiday gatherings, and special Italian-themed events or wine tastings.
- Maintain smooth communication between the front and kitchen teams, especially when coordinating family-style service, daily chef specials, or dietary adjustments for traditional dishes.
- Conduct opening and closing duties including ambiance checks (lighting, music, table settings), POS reconciliation, and shift reporting to ensure seamless service.
- Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of the dining and service areas in compliance with health and safety regulations, while preserving the elegant and rustic charm of Italian dining.
- Support inventory control and ordering of front-of-house items, including Italian-imported wines, menus, linens, condiments, and service tools.
- Uphold and enforce service protocols that reflect both local standards and traditional Italian hospitality, ensuring guests enjoy a consistent and memorable dining experience.
- Inspire a team environment built on respect, communication, and a shared appreciation for Italy’s culinary heritage and service excellence.
Prerequisites:
Education: Secondary School or equivalent experience
Experience & Skills: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in food industry
Language: English
Hourly Rate: $ 36 to $ 37.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent
