JOB DUTIES:
- Prepare and cook authentic Italian and European dishes, including pasta, risotto, antipasti, and regional specialties, ensuring traditional flavours and presentation.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and refine menus that align with client preferences and seasonal ingredients.
- Oversee the preparation and cooking of dishes for various events, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Maintain high standards of food quality and consistency, adhering to recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Manage inventory of ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper storage, and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Adapt to various cooking methods and styles to meet the diverse needs of clients and events.
- Contribute to the development of new dishes and menu items that reflect current culinary trends and client preferences.
- Participate in tastings and client consultations to ensure satisfaction with menu selections.
- Monitor portion sizes and presentation to maintain consistency and control food costs.
- Assist in menu costing and pricing by providing input on ingredient quantities and preparation times.
- Coordinate with suppliers to source authentic and high-quality ingredients specific to Italian and European cuisine.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable items to minimise waste and maintain freshness.
- Work efficiently under pressure during high-volume catering events and special occasions.
- Follow dietary restrictions and special client requests with attention to detail and flexibility.
- May perform other duties as reasonably assigned
Prerequisites:
Education: Secondary School or equivalent experience
Experience & Skills: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the food industry
Language: English
Hourly Rate: $ 36 to $ 39 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent
Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay
