Position Summary
The car mechanic performs a variety of tasks including inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all work meets safety and manufacturer standards. Maintains a clean and organized work environment while using proper tools and procedures. May assist in training junior technicians or apprentices. Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are key components of this position.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles
• Performing repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and other automotive systems
• Conducting regular maintenance services including oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults
• Advising customers on required repairs and estimated costs
• Maintaining service records and ensuring high-quality workmanship
• Following all workplace safety procedures and manufacturer specifications
Prerequisites:
Education: Related Trades certificate or diploma
Experience & Skills: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
Language: English
Credentials Motor Vehicle Inspector Certificate, Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certificate
Physical:
– Must be able to work in various areas of the workshop as needed and operate diagnostic tools and computerized vehicle systems.
– Position requires frequent bending, standing, and walking throughout the workday. Must be able to lift 10 pounds regularly and up to 30 pounds occasionally, as required for vehicle parts and equipment.

Hourly Rate: $31.00 to 32.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
