Job Overview

Miga Restaurant (Ottawa) Inc. o/a Hugo Café is looking for a Baker/cake decorator to join our team at Hugo Café (inside Social Thai Bar & Cuisine).

 

–     Job title: Baker (NOC 63202)

–     Terms of employment: Permanent & Full time Position

–     Location: 399 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON, K2P 1Y3

–     Start Date: October 01, 2025

–     Number of Vacancies: 1

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

– Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough

– Prepare orders of cakes

– Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes, sweetbreads, and pastries

– Monitor baking equipment on a daily basis to ensure a smooth operation of baking

– Maintain the baking area clean at all times

– Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings

– Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls

– Keep track of baking time to prevent any burnt or under-cooked baked goods

– Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking

– Monitor ingredients such as eggs, milk, flour, sugar etc. for quantity and freshness

– Order necessary baking supplies and ingredients when necessary

– Operate machinery

 

Academic, Training and Experience Qualifications

–     Secondary school graduation certificate required

–     At least 1 year of previous experience is required

 

Work conditions and physical capabilities

–     Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Standing for extended periods, Tight deadlines, Work under pressure

 

Wage

–     Salary: $18.00 per hour for 30~40 hours a week at 52 weeks a year

 

Benefits

–     Vacation pay: 4% remuneration of total gross salary
